Construction of the Misc items need for the shop
Updated 11-25-2007
The misc items in the shop that we need to cast and fabricate to create the tools for making out project.
The first item was the ingot tray made from angle
iron and flat steel. I welding them with the MIG welder and was
my second project item constructed.
They look like this.

And the welding looks like this on the back.

The next item made was a welding table. I was given the table
welded up and the castors. I had to weld on the castors and the
retainers that hold on the firebrick to the top.

The item built after that was the sand bench for making sand casting
molds. I painted it blue because its waterproof and I had lots of blue
paint lying around.

After making these items I went out and had a casting party reducing
the amount of aluminum scrap that I had to ingots. This is the
pile of ingots made over 3 sessions of making molten metal..
(yes)

We then made some flasks that are made up of 2 parts. A cope (
top part) and a drag (bottom part). Here is what one of the units
looks like.

Finally we have had to purchase some equipment (trading money for
time). One of the first items purchased was a hand held metal
band saw. I also built a frame to hold it upright so that it was
easier to cut some metal parts.

I have also purchased several bench vice and and X-Y table for use with the drill press/vertical mill.

Also to help get the project along I have purchased the smallest metal
lathe that I could find. It is a Harbor Freight 7 x 10 lathe and
I am using it to create initial parts for the vertical mill and custom
parts for the gingery lathes that I am building.

Well that is the updated info for now.
